Dr. Jason Buatte
Principal of Bernard Middle School

Dr. Jason Buatte is the principal of Bernard Middle School and is entering his 19th year in education, including the last 10 in the Mehlville School District. His professional journey began in Columbia, Illinois, where he taught high school and middle school social studies, algebra and special education. In the Mehlville School District, he served 6 years as assistant principal at Oakville High School and 3 years as assistant principal at Oakville Middle School and is beginning his first year as Principal of Bernard Middle School.

Dr. Buatte holds a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University, a master’s degree in educational administration from Lindenwood University, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Maryville University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Buatte has remained committed to building meaningful relationships with students and staff. He believes the most rewarding part of education is helping others recognize their strengths and supporting them as they grow into leaders.

Outside of school, his greatest joy comes from spending time with his wife and two children. Whether he's cheering at his kids’ sporting events, traveling with his family, or enjoying a round of golf, Dr. Buatte values the time he shares with those closest to him. He's also an avid fan of the Michigan Wolverines, the St. Louis Cardinals, fantasy football, and loves a good holiday to celebrate.

Dr. Buatte is proud to lead the Bernard community and is dedicated to fostering a supportive, inclusive environment where all students and staff are celebrated and can thrive.

Tracy Lee
Assistant Principal of Bernard Middle School

Tracy Lee is the Assistant Principal at Bernard Middle School and brings over 15 years of experience in education. Before joining Bernard, Ms. Lee served in a variety of leadership and instructional roles including Summer School Principal at Hixson Middle School and Reading Specialist in the Webster Groves School District. Her background also includes experience as an Academic Instructional Coach and English Language Arts teacher.

Ms. Lee earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Missouri–St. Louis. She later completed both a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Master of Arts in Reading from Webster University. Committed to school leadership and innovation, she holds a Master’s and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Administration from University of Missouri - St. Louis.

Known for her student-centered mindset and belief in the power of strong relationships, Ms. Lee is passionate about fostering equity in education, developing teacher capacity, and creating inclusive learning environments.

Outside of school, Ms. Lee enjoys traveling, spending quality time with family and friends, and completing jigsaw puzzles. Ms. Lee is excited to be part of the Bernard community and looks forward to supporting its students, staff, and families.
